Deer People

For some people (and animals), winter is a time of solitude.  For others, like me, being with our family and friends is even more important than at other times of the year. Humans evolved as a species and are still here today because we know how to cooperate and help each other, and have developed mutualistic relationships with other species.  This has always been the most important during the winter, when cooperation has helped people avoid starvation and freezing to death. And just as critically, friends and family help us get through the loneliness of long dark winter nights.
